HHS Secretary Visits Flint. Mental Health Resources Highlighted.

Did you know that almost 40% of people in Genesee County say they have a mental health problem? Though it is probably more.

Mental health impacts every aspect of our lives and it is worsened by chronic stress and life stressors that exist in our community.

Last week I was grateful for the invitation to join the discussion about mental health in the Flint community when the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra visited Genesee Health System, our community's largest mental health agency and resource. He visited as part of the Invest in America tour to discuss the resources and initiatives in the Flint and Genesee County community.

Two great things I love about our mental health resources in Flint is that we have a Behavioral Health Urgent Care and a Mental Health First Responders Crisis team!! These resources save so many lives and connect our community to better mental health options.
