Costa Rica Medical Service Trip
I was a family doctor in Costa Rica this week with Michigan State University - College Of Human Medicine. Took my Harris Family Health skills aboard.
What’s great is the human body is the same in every country and I was able to apply my broad family medicine training and expertise to residents in Costa Rica with some amazing medical students.
Global health is interesting and opens your eyes to the diverse health access difficulties and disparities in our world. But don’t worry, my heart and focus will always be Flint.
I’m grateful for the experience with FIMRC: Foundation for International Medical Relief of Children and the opportunity to share my medical skills and knowledge with Costa Ricans that found comfort in having a listening ear and compassionate care.
I don’t speak Spanish but the appreciation and kindness intertwined in the doctor patient relationship crosses all borders.
