Black Doctors! Advocacy and More!

I have been the vice chair of the Community Medicine and Public Health section of the National Medical Association for the last two years.

The NMA 2023 convention in New Orleans has been rejuvenating to see us, black doctors, thriving, fighting, and achieving.

It’s been an amazing experience to meet and work with so many wonderful black doctors in our country and be part of dynamic discussions about our communities and social determinants of health.

While being vice chair I’ve learned to organize convention talks, raise sponsorship funds, connect with health professionals across the country, and more importantly learn to advocate for my community locally and nationwide.

I’m proud to be a black doctor! I’m proud of my black doctor friends who fight against disparities and inequities. I’m proud of the history of us existing, representing, and building our community and supporting each other. We sit at tables and we build tables!
